We live in a world that is voracious in consuming our internal resources for things that don’t matter. Defy it.
What the culture values (status, money, attractiveness, luxury brands, zip codes) snares us on a hamster wheel, pouring all of our time, energy, and talent into things that don’t deliver what they promise. This appalling drain of our internal resources makes us miss what is most essential—our hearts. It is up to us to defy the culture and fight for the part of us that loves, dreams, and connects. (And to create space for others to do the same.)
We each have a bright and beautiful Imago Dei, which is breathtaking when we notice it. Seek it.
We are created in the image of God. There is something in each human that is holy and of infinite value (which makes the culture’s attempts at ranking and measuring us pure BS). It takes skill to notice that spark in literally everyone we encounter. Developing an awareness of our own Imago Dei and the Imago Dei in others is an art that creates the most spectacular conversations and builds joy and purpose in random interactions.
When we ignore our creative spark, it flatlines. Rescue it.
Humans are by nature creative. We create relationships, environments, meals, ideas, conversation, art, music, written words… But this creative spark withers when not cultivated and cared for. We each know what sucks the life out of us and what energizes us. It’s time to honor that. (And do it now before our radiant creative spark requires a crash cart.)
Here’s to your heart and causing it to thrive,
